Learning RUST… while having fun?

I have a background in computer engineering that dates back to… the last century 🙂

In terms of programming languages, I studied Pascal, FORTRAN… and worked on projects in C during my years in engineering school. My final project, part of a European project for the lab at the University of Madrid where I spent my last year on Erasmus, was done in C++.

In my first job (late ’90s, Spain), I used C++, Java, VBscript, JavaScript, in their versions of that time! I focused on analysis, design, project management, and a bit less on coding. In the next job (early 2000s, US), I primarily did analysis, design, and project management. My team coded in Java, which I continued to « read ». Personally, I kept programming in PL/SQL. It was around this time that I obtained my PMP (Project Management Professional) certification, leading me to specialize in project management.

So, my daily routine for over 20 years hasn’t predominantly involved coding…

In 2015, I founded Graines2Tech to help individuals from 4 to 104 master digital skills while having fun. While seniors aim to navigate digital public services and benefit from family communication via video, and kindergarten children explore the joys of creating digital media like pixel art or stop-motion videos, I returned to teaching programming basics to interested youth, teens, and adults. Practical application mostly involves Scratch, Python, and a bit of C# with some game engines.

The desire to learn a programming language has returned… While Java, C variants, and JavaScript are still widely used (I was even surprised to see FORTRAN and Pascal in the Top 20!), I am intrigued by this language with the name « Rust » that I increasingly come across…

So the question is: Can I #learn Rust, a #digital language, while having fun? What #gaming elements are available for this learning?
