At the Sept 11th, 2012 euroCRIS seminar on Horizon 2020, we had a very interesting workshop on Digital Futures. The DG INFSO Task Force Head, Franco Accordino, with the assistance of the euroCRIS president Keith Jeffery and vice president Anne Asserson, led us through brainstorming sessions on our vision of 2030.
It struck us all how difficult it is to represent oneself and the world in so many years from now. Several interesting subjects were discussed but we couldn’t help but try to imagine solutions to current issues.
I thought the most helpful way for me was to think about science fiction books and movies, which brought me ideas of time travel, teleportation, clones, artificial intelligence…
Out of the discussions we had, no clear ideas but an intuition, or a feeling, started to emerge: things are blurring and will blurr more and more.
